How To Improve Your Life So Fast It Feels Illegal
In the last letter we talked about the fastest way to ruin your life. Today we are doing the opposite — quite literally.
It is true that ruining your life is far easier than improving it. But there are few things that actually matter. One of the great challenges is separating the things that make the biggest difference from everything else.
We lack perspective.
We lack clarity.
We lack focus.
Alex Hormozi has the mindset of, "what's the one thing I can do that makes everything else not matter".
This video is about selecting those things out so we can be on our way to living a life of peace, progress and purpose.
Mindset
Let go of beliefs you hold onto so tightly that do not serve you. The limits you put on yourself. The limits you put on others. The assumptions you make about the world and the people in it.
Look deeply into them and ask yourself "is this belief serving me?" If it isn't no matter how right or wrong the belief is, it is time to let it go.
Be grateful for what you have, no matter how little it is. From being able to walk in grocery stores and buy anything I like, to sitting on the grass and feeling the sun on my face, there will be a day where I will do that for the last time.
Be where your feet are as much as you can.
Be optimistic about the problems in front you. Things can be bad yet still get better. Slow progress is still progress.
Accept your life is your fault. Not everything that happens to you is your fault. But if you take responsibility at least towards yourself, you will always place yourself in the strongest position. "What can I do to make this better?" is a question always on my mind.
We are a forward moving animal. Our eyes are on the fronts of our face. Create a plan. Set the direction. Keep moving forward.
Make it your mission to take ideas to execution fast. Be the person to start now. Keep the promises you make to yourself.
Dedicate yourself to one thing. Watch how your life slowly begins to revolve around that thing. Challenge yourself appropriately. Find the balance between boredom and anxiety.
When you feel like giving up — don't. Pivot instead. Fulfilment is not always pleasant.
Practice self compassion without accepting your complacency. Understand your state of mind is downstream of your actions.
Actions before thoughts … Always
Health
If you are unsure what to do with yourself — go to the gym.
The gym pulls so much into place: Exercise, nutrition, recovery and sleep.
The harder I train, the more I want to do everything else correctly. I don't want to do anything that jeopardizes my gains.
Fall in love with the process — Get obsessed.
I love learning about training and diet.
I love lifting heavy things and putting them back down.
I love progress.
I love cooking myself meals that hit my macros and taste good.
I love that stiff and sore feeling I get in the morning after a difficult session. Nothing some foaming rolling and a walk won't fix
I love sliding into bed tired, putting my head on the pillow, and passing out for the next 7 - 9 hours.
The more effort you put into something, the more you care about it going well and the more you enjoy the process.
Relationships
Model the behaviour you want to see and watch what they do.
Allow the people who enter your life to reciprocate and let go of the ones who don't.
Your needs are important. Don't compromise them. Have hard conversations. Set boundaries. Welcome the people who comply and remove those who don't.
Listen to learn — not to talk. People will love you for it.
Open yourself up to the world. Be the character in the video games that need to increase his honour level. Be vulnerable. Allow yourself to get hurt. Go first; you'll be okay.
Look like a person who others would want to talk to.
Create hobbies. Do them regularly. Talk to people there. You have a shared interest, start with that.
Never lie — even when saying the truth is hard. Say only what you mean. Compliments hit hard when there is zero doubt about what you say.
Have empathy, but don't be blinded by it. Kind, forgiving, and ruthless are a hell of a combination.
Wealth
Understand money is a concept created to facilitate cooperative trade.
Your income is someone's expenses. By definition, businesses are the redistribution of wealth. You just need to have something of worth in exchange.
The willingness to do what everyone else won't. The skill to do what everyone else can't.
Develop high agency. Think for yourself. Don't just listen to everyone else around you and take that as truth. They are just as clueless as you are.
The further up you climb, the more idiots you see. "It's idiots all the way up", as they say. Everyone is working it out as we go.
You are not so different from them.
If you have that thing, double down, triple down; do not let it go for anything.
If you don't, ponder it for as long as it takes. Try new things. Observe what sticks. Go hard for three months. Your focus will be consumed by that thing.
Purpose is created not found.
That's all for today. Appreciate you guys. Thanks for reading.
